recipe

Preparation Time:

Difficulty:

Expert

Ingredients:

  • 2 large apples, peeled and sliced
  • 100g of granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • 250g of all-purpose flour
  • 125g of unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 60ml of cold water
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Kitchen Tools Needed:

  • Mixing bowl
  • Rolling pin
  • Pie dish
  • Oven
  • Knife
  • Peeler
  • Whisk

Instructions:

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples with the sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Toss to coat evenly and set aside to marinate for about 10 minutes.
  • In another bowl, mix the flour and chilled butter until it resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add the cold water until the dough comes together. Do not overmix.
  • Roll out half of the dough on a floured surface and fit it into the pie dish. Trim any excess.
  • Fill the pie crust with the marinated apple mixture evenly.
  • Roll out the second half of the dough and place it over the apples, crimping the edges to seal. Cut a few slits on the top to allow steam to escape.
  • Brush the top with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
