Ingredients:
- 2 large apples, peeled and sliced
- 100g of granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
- 250g of all-purpose flour
- 125g of unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
- 60ml of cold water
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Kitchen Tools Needed:
- Mixing bowl
- Rolling pin
- Pie dish
- Oven
- Knife
- Peeler
- Whisk
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples with the sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Toss to coat evenly and set aside to marinate for about 10 minutes.
- In another bowl, mix the flour and chilled butter until it resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add the cold water until the dough comes together. Do not overmix.
- Roll out half of the dough on a floured surface and fit it into the pie dish. Trim any excess.
- Fill the pie crust with the marinated apple mixture evenly.
- Roll out the second half of the dough and place it over the apples, crimping the edges to seal. Cut a few slits on the top to allow steam to escape.
- Brush the top with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
