Ingredients:

  • 500g of all-purpose flour
  • 250ml of water
  • 10g of salt
  • 2g of baking powder
  • 20ml of vegetable oil

Kitchen Tools Needed:

  • Oven
  • Mixing bowl
  • Rolling pin
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper

Instructions:

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and baking powder.
  • Gradually add the water and vegetable oil to the dry ingredients, mixing until a rough dough forms.
  • Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead briefly until smooth.
  • Roll out the dough to about 1cm thickness.
  • Cut into squares or rectangles using a knife or pizza cutter.
  • Place the cut pieces onto the prepared baking sheet and prick each piece with a fork to prevent rising during baking.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until the hardtack is golden and firm to the touch.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool completely on a wire rack.
