Ingredients:

  • 500g of strong white bread flour
  • 350ml of warm water
  • 10g of salt
  • 7g of dried yeast
  • 5g of sugar
  • 30ml of olive oil

Kitchen Tools Needed:

  • Oven
  • Mixing bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Kitchen scale
  • Knife

Instructions:

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the strong white bread flour, salt, and sugar.
  • In a separate bowl, dissolve the dried yeast in warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  • Pour the yeast mixture and olive oil into the flour mixture.
  • Mix until a soft dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly oiled bowl, covering it with a damp cloth.
  • Let it rest in a warm place for about 15 minutes until it has doubled in size.
  • Preheat the oven to 220°C (428°F).
  • Punch down the dough and divide it into 4 equal pieces, shaping each into a round or oval loaf.
  • Place the shaped loaves onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Make a few slashes on top of each loaf with a knife to allow for expansion during baking.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes or until the loaves are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.
